Final Message for 2021
The 2021 year comes to a close with a bang. We celebrated the final cohort of year 7 students from our school as we become an R-6 school going forward, and we celebrated the first cohort of year 6 students going to high school as year 7s. Both will have a lifetime of special meanings for each of those students and families; and hold a significant place in the history of our school. Thank you to all of the students and families who are leaving WPPS, for your commitment and for being part of a great community.
As a final update on our staffing, we welcome Karlien Delport to the front office and Joshua Evans to year 1. We say thank you and good luck to Beau Lee, Carolyn Davies, Anna Aldridge, Ruby Whelan, Aggie Wojtysiak, Lee Dowd, Pennie Bradford, Sally Stefanopoulos, Ellie Karapetsas and Tom O’Connor.
School starts back on Monday, 31st January 2022, and we look forward to seeing everyone on day 1. We will see the commencement of our building projects during term 1 which will carry on throughout the year. These will be staged so they won’t impact the whole site at once and minimise disruption. We will keep the community informed of any changes to locations within the school during this time.
The front office will be operational from Tuesday, 18th January for any enquiries or administration needs.

Materials & Services Polling Results
Parent/Caregiver Poll Results
Recently we polled parents/caregivers regarding the 2022 Materials and Services Charge (School fees). This resulted in an overwhelming majority of parents/caregivers (63-3) supporting the Governing Council proposal to set the legally recoverable fee at $410.00 for the 2022 school year.

Fundraising News
And just like that, the 2021 school year is done!
Term 4 is always a busy one, and it was especially so this year with regards to fundraising events. Thanks to some COVID-related postponements, we had both the Quiz Night and Colour Run take place earlier in the term, followed by our “Summer Stunners” Wine Drive.
The kids had an absolute ball at the Colour Run, making their way through different obstacles, all the while getting covered in bright and wonderful colours! It was such a fun event; made even better as we were able to have parent spectators come along to watch all the fun.
A very big thank you goes out to all the WPPS families and friends for their generous donations online. We raised an impressive $18,049.00 which will be put towards upgrades to the Marlborough building, including a larger Performing Arts space. Thanks must also go to all the teachers, staff and parent helpers who kept things under control – we’re sure they had a bit of fun too, being in charge of those squirty colour bottles!
The students were also competing to be the class who raised the highest average per child. The top 3 classes across the school were LC1, LC4 and P2 and we’re sure that the LC1 (1st prize winners) thoroughly enjoyed sliming Jason and other members of the school staff during a whole school assembly.
Our second Wine Drive for the year was also a great success, raising over $1,600.00!
Our fundraising goal for 2021 was $24,000 and we are so pleased to announce that we have raised in excess of $39,000.00. This is an amazing achievement, and we would like to thank you all for your generosity and continued support of the fundraising events that took place at WPPS throughout 2021. All of the money raised goes back into our school, benefiting our children and our children’s teachers, leadership team and support staff. So again, THANK YOU!
And last, but definitely not least, we would like to thank the wonderful Pip Marsh, who has headed up the Fundraising Committee this past year. Her leadership and guidance, tireless effort and generous contributions are all greatly appreciated, and have made such a difference to our school and students. Thank you Pip!!

Colour Run
Sliming
Out of School Hours Sport
Our Out of School Hours Sport has finished for the year. This year we had children participating in cricket, softball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, netball and running club.
This would not have been possible without the support of our parent co-ordinators who ensured that things would run smoothly. Many of our co-ordinators have supported our school in this role for many years, and unfortunately we lose them now as their children leave for high school.
I would like to acknowledge and thank, Amy Elgar (netball), Mike & Juliet Fuller (Soccer) and Tarnya Temme (softball) for their contribution not only to our school sport, but our school in general for many years. We are lucky that these sports will be able to continue next year as other parents have agreed to take on the role of co-ordinators for these sports.
Our other co-ordinators were Harmony O'Cadin (basketball), Renata Billing & Melissa Waniarcha (volleyball), Kate Rankine and Asa Hogben (netball). Thank you all for your time and efforts to ensure that the children were able to participate in their chosen sports.
Special mention must go to Joel Bawden who in addition to his teaching role, looked after running club and cricket. Joel's enthusiasm for our school sport is amazing. Unfortunately, Joel will not be able to continue with cricket next year.
We look forward to 2022 when Ann Gunter will take over my role overseeing Out of School Hours Sport, and hope that we will be able to offer not only all the above sports, but also cricket and football. If any parent/caregiver would like to be co-ordinator for cricket or football, please let me know by the end of the year. Unfortunately, without a co-ordinator, these sports will not be available to our students next year.

Community News
Mountain Biking Programs
Head for the Hills has a range of Mountain Bike programs commencing soon, including an After School Skills Program just for girls. They also have their popular Holiday Geocache Adventure, Holiday Skills Clinics and After School Skills as per usual. These programs focus on the key skills of mountain biking and will develop the students:
- Bike handling and balance
- Control and trail reading
- Technique (discipline independent)
Students will also learn about the non-practical aspects of mountain biking, including:
- Trail etiquette for shared-use networks
- Risk assessment and management skills
- Knowledge of participation opportunities

Westbourne Park Uniting Church Netball Club
Winter 2022 Netball
We are currently looking for 8&u (players with year of birth 2014 or 2015), and
9&u (players with year of birth 2013).
No match play experience is necessary.
Matches are played on Saturday afternoons, generally 12:00pm for 8&u and 9&u age group or 1:45pm.
The season commences 26/3/22.
More information on the winter season appears at the top of the registration form. Should your daughter or son (up to the 11&u age group) be interested in playing please register online at www.wpucnc.org.
When nominating, players can request to be placed in the same team.
The Club also has teams in other age groups 11&u (2011, 2012),13&u (2009, 2010), 15&u (2007, 2008), 17&u (2005, 2006), Opens (2004 or earlier).
Registrations close 23/1/22.
