Fundraising Report

Although Term 3 did not get off to quite the start we were expecting, the Fundraising Committee is determined to bring you all some good news! Whilst the Quiz Night will not be taking place this month, we are working hard to lock in a date for Term 4. So please, don’t give up on your wonderful ‘Night at the Museum’ costume ideas just yet! We hope to confirm a new date shortly and will let you know as soon as we can.

As such, we are still actively seeking your support for donations of items to be used for our Main and Silent Auctions. If circumstances change again next term and we are unable to host a Quiz Night in “real life” this year, there WILL be an online Auction instead. Either way, our school community will have a chance to bid on and win some amazing auction prizes!

POSSIBLE DONATIONS INCLUDE: Vouchers for professional services; bottles of wine; weekend stay at a holiday house; gift vouchers for retail goods; family activities, i.e. bowling, mini golf; gift hampers; sporting equipment; autographed memorabilia; experiences, i.e. motorsport hot laps; jewellery; gym memberships; etc.

If you can help out in any way, or have any questions, contact wppsfundraise@gmail.com. All donated item/s can be dropped off to the Front Office. All donations will be acknowledged in the lead up to the Quiz Night, plus at the event itself (or online).

And now, we wanted to share with you how much money has been raised from school Fundraising events so far this year … an amazing $12,400! This figure includes funds raised from Mix & Mingle, Friday Fun, the Disco and the Winter Warmers Wine Drive.

Our fundraising goal for 2021 is $24,000, which means we are already over halfway! What an incredible effort from our school families and local community, especially in such unpredictable times. All the money raised are used to benefit WPPS, going towards a range of resources, such as books and materials, play spaces, classroom furniture and sports equipment, to name a few. As always, if you would like to submit a request to the Fundraising Committee, or make a suggestion, you can do this online via the Fundraising page on the new school website.

We’ve included a few photos of the recent items purchased using funds raised this year – wobble stools for use in the Resource Centre and throughout the year levels; cushion floor chairs; wicker chairs; stools for use in The Hive; and new sandpit toys for use in Yard A.

As always, thank you for your continued support and generosity.

Wakakirri 2021

Hi families,

Thank you so much for your support of Wakakirri this year. It has been a monumental effort from all involved, and I know that the kids really appreciate it. The opportunity to perform at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre is rare, and the skills and experiences they have gained will stay with them for the rest of their lives.

I am incredibly proud of our 2021 Wakakirri team, all 87 of them!

Thank you to those who helped in some way in the lead up or on the night, and to those of you who have sent emails, messages, or offered kind words in person.

On the night we won 3 awards in addition to the Participation award. These were: Best individual hair and makeup, Best teamwork, and Most creative use of the signature item.

School Banking

Get involved in the School Banking program.

Our school offers the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all students. Thursday is School Banking day and students can bring in their deposit in their Dollarmites wallet. Wallets must be in the office by 9:30am.

Saving regularly is an great habit to get into, whether you're saving a little or a lot. There is no minimum deposit with School Banking, you can send as little as 5c per week.

For every deposit made at school, students will receive a Dollarmites token. Once students have individually collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a School Banking reward item. There are currently 11 rewards to select from, including a mini soccer ball, an emoji wallet, an origami set, a handball, a stationary set and a Terry Denton Activity Book.

School Banking is also a fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.

Getting involved in School Banking is easy!

All you need to get involved in the School Banking program is a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account. You can open an account for your child in one of two ways:

  1. Online - Visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the link to open a Youthsaver account.
  1. In branch - Visit a Commonwealth Bank branch with identification for yourself and your child, like a driver’s licence and birth certificate.

If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away. They just need to bring their deposit in on Thursdays using their Dollarmites deposit wallet.

Wallets must be in the office by 9:30am. Any wallets received after this time or on any other day will be sent home, due to the privacy and security of your child’s banking

If your child has lost their book, please contact your School Banking Co-ordinator through the school office for a replacement or visit any Commonwealth Bank branch.

If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2021 School Banking program parent guide from the school office or visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking

Fruit Fly Outbreak

This notification is to advise you that your school has been identified as being located in the fruit fly red outbreak zone.

To assist schools with the management of their organics waste, the Department for Education has partnered with PIRSA to provide dedicated 240L green organics bins to be placed in the school’s grounds. These bins are for students and staff to dispose of any fruit or vegetable waste responsibly.

It is expected the bins will be removed 31 December 2021, unless further outbreaks are detected.

Bins will be:

  • Placed in the schools waste collection area
  • Un-lined and not contain any inorganic material

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the fruit fly outbreak and the disposal of fruits and vegetables please contact Amber Fromm, Public Informaiton Officer – Fruit Fly Response, PIRSA on 0400 324 220 or amber.fromm@sa.gov.au.
